“Just trust me.” Those are the words we hear in movies just before something bad is about to happen. And yet, we are told to trust God. In a culture where we’re taught to take control of our own lives, trusting God has become a religious cliché rather than a life-changing attitude. We say it, but do we really mean it? And what does trusting God really look like? May I offer a few examples?
Trusting God is a teenage mother who refuses to drop out of school because of her situation. Trusting God is relocating across country to where you know no one, in order to get your kids out of the ghetto. Trusting God is providing shelter to family members, even when you’re having financial struggles, because they have nowhere else to go. Certainly, you can relate to one or more of these situations. I sure can. But, praise God that our trust in Him is not in vain. He shows up, and shows out, each and every time!
Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:4-6 (NIV)
