The Overcoming Life of Prayer
One of the main reasons so many of us believers attempt the overcoming life on our FEET rather than on our KNEES is simple; we are not getting the answers we are looking for. Here is a word of wisdom for our future time of communing with the Lord. James said in his epistle (ch. 1:5-7), If we are lacking in wisdom, we should ask of God, that gives it liberally. But we should ask in faith, not wavering in unbelief, no, not for a second. He further states, if we don’t believe we receive wisdom the moment we ask, “Let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.” Why so? Solomon said, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding”.
God knows that if we are void of wisdom, we are also unable to facilitate the answers to our prayers. Just think of it; if I ask for silver and gold without wisdom, I immediately misrepresent the one who gave it. So Solomon says, “For wisdom is better than rubies, and all things that may be desired are not to be compared to it”.
We, the would be overcomers, are yet struggling with relationships, jobs and ministries because we wanted them for so long, so badly, that God gave up on giving wisdom and “…gave them their own desire; They were not estranged from their lust…” (Psalm 78:29, 30).
So, the next time we ask the Father in the context of “…all things, whatsoever…” (Matt.21:22), be certain wisdom is at the top of the list; for without it we’re on our own two feet not getting very far!
