JUST DO IT!

If God tells you to do something, just do it! Don’t hesitate. Don’t debate. Don’t launch an internal process of questioning why or how or when. Just do it!

Here’s a key point: something we often fail to acknowledge is the consistency of God’s character. He always does what is right. So there is never any need to second-guess his motives or his directions. Following his orders will always result in just the right thing.

That’s why Joshua instructed his listeners to “be careful to obey the teachings and laws.” That’s why he said to “follow God and serve him the very best you can.” Unquestioning, instantaneous, joyful obedience is what ushers in the blessing.

This is something we need to heed today. We are God’s chosen people, but the Father is our commander-in-chief. There is no room for questioning or debating. There is only room for obedience. Follow Joshua’s admonition, and just do it!

But be careful to obey the teachings and laws Moses, the Lord’s servant, gave you: to love the Lord your God and obey his commands, to continue to follow him and serve him the very best you can.  Joshua 22:5 (NCV)
