Looking Up
Faces don’t lie. We might hear lying words, but we rarely see lying eyes. If you look carefully, most people reveal all you need to know about them just in the image of their face. It’s a natural reaction. When a person gets caught, and they’re confronted, what’s the first thing they do? They either look down or away. And as a mother, we know the secret of getting to the truth is by saying “Now, look me in the face and tell me the truth.” It works every time.
For years, many of us had to look away from God. When confronted with our sins, we were not able to raise our faces to Him because the truth stood between us. But once we obtain that courage to look up, we discover that God accepts us exactly as we are. No longer does that burden that once kept us staring at the ground prevent us from seeing the face of our blessed Redeemer.
I sought the LORD, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried out, and the LORD heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles.
