I was looking at the “Living the LoveWalk with a Spiritual Maintenance Plan” teaching series that we are taking throughout the Christian Churches at it dawned on me…if the mark of the Christian is love, and that is who we are trying to be, then our character should be love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
We should not boast, be envious, be proud, rude or self-seeking, and not easily angered. Keep no record of wrongs, as we do not delight in evil, but we rejoice with the truth. We should always protect, trust, hope and persevere. WOW…what an order I can’t go through with this Pastor!
And you are absolutely right! You can’t do this on your own. That is why you need the Holy Spirit active in your life. I mean a real personal relationship with Him (Read John 14: 15-27 and 16: 12-16).
Now, let’s look at our personality, which I believe is the outward appearance of our character. So, if I am always grouchy, mean, anti-social, no smile on my face, always frowning, not looking cheerful, snapping at people, angry, etc, then am I a true representative of a Christian? Or, am I just going through the motions?
But, Pastor Jesus got angry and tore up the temple, then went off on the people. Yes, and sometimes the world will take you there (LOL). However, that is not His personality or everyday demeanor, and definitely not Jesus’ character.
So, ask yourself, Who Am I????
