CAN GOD? OR GOD CAN!
The order in which these words are used says a lot about our faith. We know “God can”, but when it comes to our situation we wonder “Can God”? The promises of God are in Him yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” 2 Corinthians 1:20.
“And behold there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord if thou will, thou can make me clean”, Matthew 8:2. “Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying I will: be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleaned. Why? His faith made him whole.
A centurion went to Jesus saying, “Lord my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof; but speak the word only, and my servant will be healed. Matthew 8:5-8. Do you think the centurion had a “Can God or a “God Can” mentality?
The woman with the issue of blood (Matthew 9:20), did she have a “Can God” mentality? No, she had a “God Can” if only I can get to him. Isn’t that the way it should be. God can, and we know that objectively, because of the Word. But the problem is subjective, within me. I don’t know if he can do it for me. Our lack of faith is the biggest hindrance to receiving what we need from God.
Often times, we are not willing to do what it takes to receive from God. The woman with the issue pushes until she is able to touch the hem of the garment of Jesus. She presses her way through the crowd because she believes. How long are we willing to push to get to Jesus? Are you willing to push through a negative report, push through the negative words of friends and family in an effort to get to Jesus? Are you able to push through fear to get to Jesus? If I can but touch the hem of his garment…..I will receive what I need.
The centurion asks Jesus to speak the word of healing, and he knew his servant would be sick no longer. Are you able to accept the Word of healing? Are you able to accept the Word of prosperity? Are you able to accept the word of God concerning your life situation?
God is speaking his Word over us through the Bible. When we need from him, we just need to hear his voice. “God can” when we put ourselves in the position that allows Him to do what he is willing to do for all his children. “Can God” is the mind set of the one who is lacking in faith.
Be strong in faith,
